After reading this chapter, you should be able to:
- Consider research in terms of different activity domains and research interests;
- Recognise where and how qualitative research can be useful and on what basis
decisions about methodology can be taken;
- Be aware of what constitutes reliability and validity in qualitative research, for instance ‘specificity’ and ‘reflexivity’;
- Consider different types of reflexivity, for instance introspective, intersubjective and
social critique.
